Tristan Fleming serves as the Co-President, Chief Impact Officer and General Counsel at Ascent Funding, where he leverages over two decades of experience in legal and compliance matters with a focus on education finance. In his dual leadership role, Tristan guides the company's impact initiatives, including Ascent’s Outcomes-Based Loan™ program, while overseeing all legal affairs, including litigation, compliance, legal strategy, and corporate governance for Ascent Funding and its affiliates.
Before joining Ascent, Tristan spent 9 years as General Counsel of GCO Education Loan Funding Corp., a student loan company that held over $6 billion in assets under management at its peak. Prior to GCO, Tristan was an associate at the law firm of Thacher Proffitt & Wood, LLP in New York City, starting out in the Corporate and Financial Institutions group and then specializing in private student loan securitizations.
