We asked our Ascent interns to share the songs that will be on repeat all summer long as they wake up each morning, need a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, or reminisce over their favorite summer memories.

Why I Love These Songs: I’m definitely not a morning person so ARMNHMR helps wake me up with some loud and upbeat music in the morning. My friends and I used to play “Just for a Moment” all the time when we went on late night drives after studying and it reminds me of those good memories. The last one is just a happy feeling song that reminds me of a road trip I took with my closest friends during the summer.

Why I Love This Song: I first heard it because it was very popular on Tik Tok, and I began to really like it because of how catchy and fun it is to sing along to!

Why I Love This Song: I love this song because it has a very uplifting beat and lyrics. The song also talks about being there for someone in need and it just gets me in an optimistic mood for the day.

Why I Love These Songs: I love the first one because it makes me feel happy no matter what! Burna Boy will always make me feel like I’m on a tropical beach somewhere. Good summer vibes always! The last one I find super pretty, it puts me in the mood to go on a solo adventure somewhere new.

A Song I’m Currently Listening To: “LMLY” by Jackson Wang
Why I Love This Song: I heard this song for the first time on my road trip to Vegas at the start of summer, so now it’s tied to a great memory of mine! Since then, it’s been my go-to song for every road trip I’ve taken since the start of summer. I love how more recently there’s been a rise in artists using 80’s pop for inspiration, such as this song, so you get to hear a lot of cool funky instruments and beats. It’s also a love song as well which I’m a sucker for! It’s perfect if you’re looking for a sad love song you can still dance jamming out to.
